Early in the wipe I got killed by other pscavs quite a few times and I also realized that max fence rep was probably not going to happen so I just developed a philosophy- if a pscav acts the least bit shady around me, I start blasting, and if a pscav acts rude and starts looting the same stuff in looting, I start blasting. This has got me to -2.97.

Fence rep is important because it affects your possible extracts, how much time you have left in raid, and what you spawn with. Positive rep doesn't guarantee good spawns, but the chance for high tier loot spawn on your scav does. High rep also allows for scav raiders and bosses to be friendly to your scav and won't kill you.

Car extracts are a "do 5x times for rep, after that just when needed for extract". Scav-PMC coop extracts also have diminishing returns from what I've watched/read, but you get the fence gamble afterwards. Yeah when I run scavs I usually don't even fire a bullet, unless it's a Chad, even light kitted pmcs I kinda wait to verify it's a pmc which usually means I get killed.
